Andres Quandelacy – Master Carver of the Zuni Wolf & Mountain Lion Lineage

Andres Quandelacy (Zuni Pueblo) was a respected and prolific fetish carver from the well-known Quandelacy family of artists. His carvings frequently included wolves, mountain lions, bears, and rams, and he was particularly known for incorporating straight heartlines that ran along one side of the carving — a stylistic element that became strongly associated with his work.

Andres worked in a wide range of stones, including turquoise, malachite, jet, and Picasso marble, creating pieces with clean lines and a balanced, grounded presence. Collectors appreciate his carvings for their clarity of form and the traditional Zuni symbolism they carry.

Andres Quandelacy passed away on August 21, 2024, leaving behind a rich legacy and a body of work that remains highly valued among Zuni fetish collectors. His pieces continue to circulate in respected Native art galleries and private collections.
